Terms & Conditions

These terms set out the basis on which Movemento accepts watches for service, carries out the work, and returns pieces to their owners. They are written to be straightforward. If anything here needs clarification, please ask before leaving your watch with us.

1. About us

Who is providing the service

Movemento is a watch repair workshop operating from 18 Naphralan Road, Tha Wasukri, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya 13000, Thailand. You can reach us by telephone on +66 98 163 7402 or by email at [email protected].

These terms apply to all three services currently offered: the Cleaning & Lubrication Tune-Up, the Water-Resistance Reseal & Pressure Check, and the Heirloom Rebuild & Documentation.

2. Accepting a job

How we take on work

We take on new work by written agreement only. An enquiry — whether by telephone, email, or in person — begins a conversation rather than a commitment. Work starts after we have described what will be done, quoted a price, stated an estimated turnaround, and received your written confirmation that you agree to proceed.

We reserve the right to decline a job if we consider the work outside our current competence or if the watch requires specialist attention we cannot reasonably provide. In that case we will say so plainly and, where possible, suggest an alternative route.

3. Prices and payment

What you will be charged

All prices are quoted in Thai Baht (฿) and are inclusive of any applicable value-added tax at the current standard rate unless stated otherwise. Current service prices are:

Cleaning & Lubrication Tune-Up ฿3,600
Water-Resistance Reseal & Pressure Check ฿19,000
Heirloom Rebuild & Documentation ฿31,000

If an inspection uncovers work that falls outside what was originally agreed — for example, a worn component not visible at the outset — we will contact you before proceeding. No additional charge will be applied without your prior written agreement. You may at that point choose to proceed at the revised scope, to proceed with the original scope only, or to collect the watch in its current state at the original agreed price.

Payment is due in full upon collection, unless a different arrangement has been agreed in writing beforehand. We accept cash in Thai Baht and bank transfer to the account details we will supply on request.

4. Turnaround estimates

When to expect your watch back

Turnaround estimates are our best honest assessment at the time of accepting the job. They are not binding commitments. Work requiring movement disassembly, sourced parts, or extended bench time may take longer than the initial estimate.

We will contact you if a job is likely to run significantly past its stated window. If a delay is unacceptable and you wish to collect the watch, please contact us and we will discuss the options at that point.

Current indicative turnarounds: Cleaning & Lubrication Tune-Up — approximately two working days; Water-Resistance Reseal & Pressure Check — roughly one to two weeks; Heirloom Rebuild & Documentation — around eight to twelve weeks.

5. Your responsibilities

What we ask of you

When leaving a watch with us, please let us know of any known issues, recent repairs elsewhere, or aspects of the piece you would like preserved or avoided. The more context you can provide, the better we can serve the piece.

If we are unable to reach you during the service — for example, to discuss a finding or an adjustment in scope — and the watch has been ready for collection for more than 90 days, we will write to you at the contact address you provided. If no arrangement is made within a further 30 days, we reserve the right to recover our costs through the procedures available under Thai law.

Watches left with us remain your property throughout. You are responsible for ensuring you are authorised to have the work carried out — for example, if the watch belongs to an estate or is held on behalf of another person.

6. Care while in our possession

How we handle your watch

Watches accepted for service are stored securely and handled with care appropriate to their value and condition. We record the condition of every piece on arrival and at completion.

While we take every reasonable precaution, we are not an insurer. We strongly recommend that high-value watches are covered by your own insurance policy during the service period. We can supply a written receipt and condition note to support any insurance declaration on request.

In the unlikely event that a watch in our care suffers damage caused by our negligence, we will discuss the situation with you openly and work toward a fair resolution. Our liability in any such case is limited to the agreed service cost or the documented replacement value of the specific damaged component, whichever is lower, unless a different arrangement is agreed in writing.

7. Cancellation and collection

Changing your mind

You may cancel a job and collect your watch at any point before work has begun, at no charge. Once bench work has started — meaning the movement has been opened or parts have been ordered — we will charge for the time and materials applied up to that point.

If you have concerns about work in progress, please contact us. We would rather pause and discuss than complete something you are unhappy with.

8. Parts and materials

What goes into the work

Where a service requires replacement parts — gaskets, lubricants, crystals, or other components — we use parts appropriate to the movement and case in question. We will tell you what is being replaced as part of our job documentation.

Original manufacturer parts are used where they are available and where their cost is within reason. In cases where manufacturer parts are no longer obtainable, we will discuss the alternatives with you before proceeding.

Any original parts removed during a service are made available for you to collect alongside the completed watch, unless they are worn or damaged beyond any practical use, in which case we will note their disposal in the job record.

9. Post-service period

After you collect your watch

Each completed job is accompanied by written notes describing the condition found, the work carried out, and any observations relevant to the watch's continued care. These notes are yours to keep.

If you notice something that concerns you within 14 days of collecting your watch, please get in touch. We will examine the watch at no additional charge and discuss what, if anything, needs attention. This does not cover damage from subsequent impact, immersion beyond the watch's stated rating, or wear from normal use.

This post-service period does not extend to issues outside the scope of the service performed. It is a practical offer to stand behind our work, not a broad undertaking covering all future performance.

10. Privacy and your data

How we handle your personal information

We collect and use your personal information only to carry out the agreed service, to contact you during and after the job, and to keep records of the work performed. Our full Privacy Policy is available at privacy-policy.html and the Cookie Policy at cookie-policy.html.

11. Governing law

Which rules apply

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any dispute that cannot be resolved through direct discussion will be referred to the appropriate Thai jurisdiction.

12. Changes to these terms

How they may be updated

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time your job is accepted is the one that applies to that job. The current version is always available on this page, dated at the top.

If you have a question about any part of these terms, please write to us at [email protected] before leaving your watch. We are happy to explain anything that needs clarifying.
